A Great Achievement
I would like to proudly announce that two of my images have won Bronze Awards at the 2020 RISE International Photography Awards. Both of them were chosen in the Maternity Category.
The judges were highly qualified photographers and I have received very motivating and encouraging feedbacks. I have learned a lot from the experience and can’t wait for a next opportunity to try and achieve even better results.

The Story Behind Them
The first one is a half nude portrait of beautiful expecting Joanne, in front of a vintage background. She was 7 months pregnant at the time of her pregnancy session. We have taken several nude images of her but this one turned out as the best. I edited the background in post-processing. The leaves pattern is actually coming from our armchair in the living room. I photoshopped some of them on the mum’s belly to symbolise the new life growing inside. This was one of my favourite maternity images from last year. I’m so happy that it has won an award.
The second one is also a personal favourite pregnancy image from the past year. I love the captured moment and the connection between mother and daughter. The little three years old baby girl waited so patiently for her turn to photographed with mum and the baby bump. While I photographed her mother only, she played quietly. The cute tutu she is wearing is one of my studio’s most popular outfits for little girls. This setup has become one of the most popular and most frequently asked one in my studio lately.
Other Images Entered
There were a few more images I have sent in for the RISE Awards but didn’t win. Some of them were very close, with only 0.7 point missing for an award. They are displayed below.
This was the first time that I have tried myself in pet photography as well. It wasn’t too far from winning an award. I will just keep trying to improve my skills.
My favourite genre is still Maternity Photography, so I am generally happy that I had success in this category. I’d like to thank all my lovely clients for the opportunity to create art and choosing me again and again to capture images of the important events in their lives.
