WHAT EXACTLY IS BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY?
“In photography, boudoir refers to a style in which women pose for photographs partially clothed or in lingerie. The photos are tasteful and nudity is typically implied rather than explicit. They are sensual and sexy as well as classy and elegant.” – bridebox.com
In other words: “Boudoir photography is a photographic style featuring intimate, romantic, and sometimes erotic images of its subjects, primarily intended for the private enjoyment of the subject and his or her romantic partners.”
Boudoir Portrait Sessions in Our Studio
All our glamour and boudoir sessions start with pampering and relaxing Hair Styling and Professional Makeup. Our incredibly talented makeup artist and hair stylist always knows how to create a makeup and hair style that suits our clients best. She is amazing at listening to and understanding our clients’ preferences and following their ideas and style for a look they are absolutely happy with.
We also style our clients’ wardrobe and discuss the session, styles, backgrounds, poses, lighting etc. prior to the session. Our beautiful and friendly studio provides a perfect backdrop for personalized and exclusive glamour and boudoir sessions.
The Story Behind This Boudoir Shoot
My lovely and talented client Bianca is a university student who booked this boudoir portrait session as part of an assignment. Her task was to design lingerie and have it made and photographed professionally. She asked her best childhood friend Katy to be her model.
The lingerie is simply amazingly beautiful, just like the model. I had the best time working with this talented team, including my hair and makeup artist. We had so much fun in the studio and we ended up with stunning images.
Variety of Locations, Props and Backgrounds
Once Katy’s makeup and hair were ready, we started the shoot as discussed before with the designer. At the beginning we used natural light, coming in through the large windows in the studio. I love photographing in the back light, it shows the lovely shapes of the female body so beautifully.
Next we used the other room where we have a large bed, a large vintage mirror and lots of sunlight.
Back in the studio we used my hand painted canvas background first and then my favorite dark grey seamless paper background.
We finished the shoot with an unusual pose and camera angle. The above image turned out as one of our favorites from the shoot.
I hope that these images will be perfect for Bianca’s uni assignment and help her towards a good grade. I also hope that Katy will treasure these images of herself for many years to come.
