After booking a glamour portrait session, my clients always ask me what to wear and bring, how long the session takes etc. We always discuss these and more in details before the shoot but I thought that it would also be a good idea to write about it here. I also always give my clients my Glamour Session Booklet with lots of useful information. It includes ideas about what to wear and how to prepare for the session.
What is Glamour Photography?
“Glamour photography is a form of photography which focuses on highlighting the model’s natural features in a way which is meant to be flattering and artistic.
Glamour photographers view their work as art. They explore the nature of the human form and use a variety of stylistic techniques to highlight their models. Often, such photographs bring out another side of the model. Photographers using lighting, composition, and interesting poses to draw the model’s hidden nature out into the open. While people often associate glamour photography with sensual images, it doesn’t necessarily have to be sensual in nature. Glamour photography may be in color or black and white. Pre-Shoot Consultation
How would you like to be photographed? We will discuss every single detail before your session so you have a dream experience and you end up with stunning images you love. We will listen to you, recommend styles, lighting setups, backgrounds, outfits etc.
This consultation can be in person, via video or phone call or via email.
Makeup and Hair Styling
Our celebrity style glamour sessions include professional makeup, hair styling and wardrobe styling. All you need to do is to cleanse and moisturize your face before coming to your session. Please shampoo and rinse your hair the night before for best results in hair styling.
Valeria, our incredibly talented makeup artist and hairstylist is going to discuss your preferred style with you and work based on your preferences. We will make sure that you are happy with the results. Don’t forget to plan an evening out after your session because you will look gorgeous.
Your Session
Please prepare to spend a half day in the studio. We promise you that it will be a great (half) day out. Hair styling and professional makeup takes about one to one and a half hour. The portrait shoot itself is about one and a half to two hours.
It is my job as a photographer to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I will make sure that you light up and I will capture it. My work is to photograph you in the most beautiful way.
Clothing Ideas
In the studio we offer a few gowns, dresses and accessories for glamour photography. On top of these, you are welcome to bring anything you think would look nice on the photos. We might not use everything but it is always good to have plenty of choices. Many of our clients arrive with suitcases and it is fun looking at everything and choosing what would look best.
The following items can be great ideas:
- evening gowns and/or formal dresses,
- cocktail dress;
- plain long tight stretchy dress;
- elegant long pants, long or shorter skirts with blouses or tops;
- nice shoes – high heels and stilettos are welcome – darker and lighter colors as well;
- choice of jewelry;
- flowers and flower hats.
- jeans with elegant tops and heels;
- elegant knitted tops or cardigans;
- blazers;
- scarves.
Choosing Your Images
We will ask you to come back to select your portraits about a week after your photo shoot. You will see a cinematic presentation of about 30-50 on our big screen. I will help you select your favorite ones and decide in which form of artwork to present them. Printed art and digital collections will be ready in about two weeks.
