The results are in! 10 of the images I submitted for the 2022 Portrait Masters Image Awards won Bronze Awards and one of them even got a Bronze with Distinction.
With Distinction means that it is very close to Silver. I am very proud of this achievement and I’m hoping to finally get a Silver next time. This image received the highest score so far at any of the awards I applied for. Please see the image below.
From the beginning, when I fist started doing maternity photography – over 15 years ago – I always loved using scarves and different materials on expecting mums. I purchased this cognac colored silky scarf last year and used it many times already. I love how it looks with my dark background and with my one light setup.
Three other images were awarded with Bronze in the Maternity category, two in Newborn and two in the Family and Group category. Please find them below.
This portrait above is one of my favorite newborn portraits. I fairy tales and newborn babies and it was so exciting to use my imagination. The rocking horse is a very popular prop in my studio, small children usually love it. In the background I used an image I took of Le Mont Saint-Michel in France when we visited it a few years ago.
Below another two maternity photos, showcasing another one of my new silky scarves, this time the gold colored one. It looked stunning on gorgeous expecting Kiki. I also used my hand painted canvas backgrounds – painted by me.
On the following two images I used the brown background I also painted myself during the long lockdown last year. It was hard work but it was worth it. It looks amazing with maternity photos.
The creamy/pinkish backdrop is also my creation and I love using it for pregnancy and newborn portraits. I also bought many new maternity gowns and outfits for pregnancy photography, like this beautiful pink bodysuit. It looked simply stunning on lovely Alysha.
I love little Rhea’s smile and her mum’s expression on this mother and baby portrait. Capturing motherhood is one of the favorite parts of my work. I have been doing it for nearly two decades and can’t get enough of it.
This little baby boy’s dad loves fishing and they wanted to include it in their newborn portraits. They adore this photo of him and I’m very proud of it too.
This is the pose and lighting setup I always do during my maternity sessions. My clients always choose these images as some of their favorites. Many times they end up as large prints on the wall in the clients’ homes.
Generally I’m proud of these results but I will keep trying to achieve more in the future. I always learn a lot from these experiences and find them encouraging. I’m looking forward to the next awards.
